Just waiting for Spring

This winter has been a little strange. We haven't gotten as much snow as usuall, and haven't gotten any sun either. It has just been a grey muddy mess for most of the winter. I am the kind of person that would rather there be snow in the yard if it is going to be so dang cold. Resigned to not getting the snow I have been craving, I am ready for Spring already! So in the spirit of Spring, I decided to touch up a few pictures I snaped in my yard last year to hold me over until […]more

Take a Peek at – Amethyst

Here is my first installment of my gemstone series. In order to learn a little more about the stones I use I thought it would be helpful to post a little of what I have found out here. The first stone in this series is Amethyst, which also happens to be February’s birthstone. True Amethyst is the purple form of quartz. This stone can exhibit a wide range of purple shades from lilac to the most valuable form, a deep purple. It can come in many cuts as well from a smoth polished bead, to a rough cut druzy. Oh where, oh where has my camera gone…

Fran's Thirty Five by Cameraluv on EtsyGasp! I cannot find my camera anywhere. Which is really not very good for someone who needs to photograph some new pieces. I have the camera case. It is dangling oh so lonely like on the door knob as I write this. It really misses its friend the camera, so camera, if you are reading this… please come home. The bright side of this story is that my house is cleaner than ever, but alas, still no camera.

Home Decor from Around the Net

Birdcages Shower Curtain – 26$I saw this cute shower curtain on one of my random web browsing sessions, and had to post it here. I think that it could go well with almost any decor because of its mostly neutral background and the little spashes of color in the tiny birds.   Too cute 🙂

New Installment – Take a peek at Gemstones

Blue Fire Flashy Labradorite faceted center drilled teardrop briolettes by gemaliciousbeads on EtsyWhen I started out on this little jewelry making journey, I had no idea the number of different hats I would have to wear (so to speak). One of those hats is that of a geologist. I remember walking into my first gem show and my jaw hit the floor with all the different types and grades and cuts of gemstones. So, to help me learn and also to share my research I am going to start doing mini research projects on gemstones and sharing my findings here. […]more

Overcoming the creative slump

Winter Rains by Kecky on EtsyIt seems like it never fails, about this time of year cabin fever sets in and I hit a creative slump. There is something about the endless grey skies and the point where the snow starts to melt and reveal its muddy dirty underside, that just makes me want to curl up in my bed and wait for spring. With my creative slump being in full swing right about now, and no spring flowers in sight, I am going to have to overcome this slump all on my own. Feeling the same way?  Here are […]more
