THaW #2 – Etched Copper Faux Wood Earrings

I finally took the plunge and tried etching some copper. These two came out really well. I got to use my new disc cutter too! Bonus!

The pattern on this was drawn with an office store paint pen. I then put it in an acid solution to etch out the areas not covered with the paint. Once it was finished I used Liver of Sulphur (Smells like stinky eggs, Sorry dear boyfriend!) to give it the patina. I also hand made the ear wires from 20g sterling silver wire.

Etching was so much fun. It is crazy to see the design I drew now permanently in the metal. I plan on doing a few more of these this week!
