Welcoming 2011

Photo by Jessica LopourI am really excited for this year. I have always considered 11 to be my lucky number. My birthday is 11/11 and so is my boyfriends! It has to mean something right? Well, I am going to be optimistic and assume that this will be a good year for myself and my little business.

I am not a big fan of new years resolutions, how many are forgotten within the first few months? But a new year does give the opportunity to start anew. To adjust our habits and routines and set new goals and revisit the old. I have quite a few big ideas for this year and am excited to get working on them.

I hope to have a new line of Jewelry completed and in my shop by the end of February. One of my other goals this year is to do an art festival or show. If nothing else it should be a good learning experience. I am also working on a few new skills that I hope to translate into products in my shop. One I have talked about before is enameling.

Some of the things not jewelry related that I want to accomplish this year is to start a vegetable garden in my back yard. Now, if you know me you know that I have a serious black thumb and this has the possibility to be a total disaster. But hopefully between myself and my boyfriend we will have at least a few edible plants this season. Along with that we are going to start composting. I am really excited to start this garden and learn more about organic gardening. I think it will help us get some exercise, produce some yummy food, and force us to cook more rather than eating out (which we do much more than I would like to admit).

These are just a few of the things that I have in store for 2011. Have any gardening tips or want to share some of your goals or plans for 2011, please comment below!
