Utopia Fest 2012

As promised here are a few pics of the trip. Sorry for the delay. Things have been crazy busy around here and hopefully I will have big news to share with you soon!

Utopia Fest is a small music festival in the middle of nowhere Texas. The first night was CRAZY! Apparently it never rains in Texas, but when it does… it really rains! Luckily it wasn’t cold. There was mud, we were dirty, wet and it was fantastic! You would think a torrential down pour would ruin an outdoor concert, but we rallied and had a fantastic time. Dr. Dog was such a good live band. I liked their music before, but after this I am a true fan. They were great. (because of the extreme wetness the photos aren’t the best)

Charles Bradley was someone I was surprised to see in the line up. But, boy was I surprised. He was amazing! By this time the rain was really coming down. Everyone was soaked to the bone and still came together and had a great night. Charles Bradley was so much fun. I will remember this night for the rest of my life. After the concert he jumped off the stage and into the crowd to join us in the rain. My boyfriend even got a hug. 🙂

Once the music was over we stumbled back to the tent through fields of mud, only to wake up and realize that the tent was perhaps, not well suited to rain. After bailing out about an inch or two of water out of the tent we realized how lucky we were that we brought blow up mattresses!

A lot of people left that morning. Not prepared for all the rain, but we did stay. And the next day was beautiful. We dried out and had such a good time. This is truly a trip to remember. We already have plans for next year.
